KY-TN ASM Branch Fall meeting
September 20, 2021
The KY-TN ASM Branch fall meeting will be held November 5-6th virtually. This meeting will be hosted by the University of Kentucky this year so please make an effort to participate. There will be a 3-minute thesis competition for both graduate and undergraduate students, and multiple research talks about topics in microbiology. This will also be an excellent opportunity to network with people from other institutions! Registration is free for branch members, and for information on how to become a member please see the attached flyer. The final preliminary program can be accessed here.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month

The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) launched their “You Are Not Alone” campaign to spread a message of unity. They prepared a guide to show ways we can support one another, through blogs, personal stories, videos, and events. You can support this campaign by using #NotAlone on social media platforms.

Jamila Tucker Wins Award at KYTN American Society for Microbiology Spring Meeting
April 16-17, 2021
Chapter Diversity Representative and second year graduate student in the D'Orazio lab, Jamila Tucker gave a presentation on her research entitled “Intracellular Replication Promotes Colonization of the MLN by Protecting Listeria monocytogenes from Phagocyte Clearance and Exogenous Lipoate Starvation”
